ISO 27001: Information Security
Management Systems

What is ISO 27001?

The international standard ISO 27001:2022 offers Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) a framework to maintain information availability, confidentiality, and integrity while also adhering to legal requirements. For the protection of your most important assets, such as client and employee data, brand image, and other private information, ISO 27001 certification is required. An approach that is process-based for initiating, implementing, running, and maintaining your ISMS is part of the ISO standard.

The 2022 publication of ISO 27001:2022 marked the standard’s replacement of the 2018 and 2013 iterations.

Implementing ISO 27001 is a great way to meet regulatory and customer requirements, such as the GDPR, and to protect against potential security risks like cybercrime, theft, misuse, vandalism, terrorism, fire, damage, and viral attacks.

The ISO 27001 standard is vendor-neutral and technology-neutral, meaning it is not dependent on any particular IT platform. It is also designed to be compatible with other management systems standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 27701, and ISO 22301. As a result, everyone who works for the company needs to be informed about the standard and how it applies to every department.

Obtaining an approved ISO 27001 certification demonstrates your organization’s commitment to upholding information security best practices. Furthermore, obtaining ISO 27001 certification gives you access to a professional assessment of how well your company protects its information.
